Study design
Participants underwent cystoscopy and injections around areas of bladder inflammation. The investigators used a Global Response Assessment questionnaire after treatment; there was no placebo or comparator group.
What the researchers reported
Ten participants reported complete symptom resolution and two reported substantial but incomplete resolution. The abstract reported no dropouts or adverse events in this small cohort.
What this result does not establish
An uncontrolled 12-person pilot cannot separate treatment effects from placebo response, procedural effects, selection bias or measurement bias. It does not establish efficacy or general safety.
